Blizzard Laughs at Best Buy 1 Feb Diablo 3 Release Date

Yesterday an intrepid  Best Buy Customer spotted a Diablo 3 launch day advert in a Best Buy store which at first appeared to be a nice piece of photoshop trickery. However after checking with the store in Rochster, the advert was in fact legitimate, despite Best Buy’s inability to spell February correctly.

Since the ad appeared, online retailers have been busy ammending their release dates. Gameplay in the UK for example now have the date down as 3 February and Target now have 7 February.

In a follow-up Twitter post from Blizzard’s Diablo 3 CM Bashiok, it appears that the dates that are being touted are purely speculation. The tweet, in response to where the story first appeared on Diablo: IncGamers, simply reads:

The word is lol.

If you have been reading all the gaming news in the past 24 hours citing a 1 February release, don’t hold your breath, Blizzard are still to confirm a release date and you’ll have to hang in there for the real date directly from Blizzard.
