The latest MMO market analysis from SuperData Research and Newzoo, indicates that the free to play market is continuing to grow with revenue share of the overall market now reaching 50%.
The yalso predict that the MMO market will rise above $12bn in 2012, and forecast it to reach $17.5bn in 2015. According to the report, the numberof MMO titles available to player has doubled since the start of 2011. Spending on subscription and free to play MMOs has also increased in the US by 3% over the last 12 months with the US market expected reach $2.9bn by the end of this year.
Looks like MMOs are here to stay but I think we’ll see more new titles moving over to the free to play model in the next twelve months.
