In the latest update from Blizzard’s WoW team,  they have revealed that Dragon Soul raid will become “enveloped by the “Power of the Aspects” spell, reducing the health and damage dealt of all enemies in the raid by 5%” dueing an upcoming maintenance period.  Blizzard are wanting to  make sure that players are progressing in the game, although there has certainly been some mixed reactions on this one from the community.

The spell will affect both normal and Heroic difficulties but will not affect the Looking for Raid difficulty and it will  grow “progressively stronger over time”. It’s worth noting though that the spell can be disababled by talking to Lord Afrasastrasz if you don’t want the help. Here’s why this is being done…

The Blizzard EU site was updated earlier with news that botrh Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm have been dropped in price. However, the more vigilant of you will notice that these are not really price cuts because the games can be picked up cheaper at retailers such as Amazon and even on the high street. Looks like Blizzard are trying to cash in on the lazy shopper and also bring their own prices down to match the retailers.

Blizzard has announced that athey are set to test some new file optimsation tech in the 4.3.2 PTR update to help clean up your HD.

With the 4.3.2 patch we’ll be testing some new file optimization tech. As you may be aware, with previous major expansion patches (2.0, 3.0, 4.0, etc.) we’ve carried out a time-consuming process to reorganize the game files currently installed on your hard drive to integrate all previous patch files, essentially ‘cleaning up’ what’s on your computer and reducing the full installation size. This process used to require an amount of free hard drive space double that of the entire installation size to complete, which is why we’ve reserved them for large expansion-sized patches.

The new tech we’re testing with the 4.3.2 PTR will process these cleanups with no additional hard drive space required beyond what the patch is adding. Because of that you may see them appear more frequently with patches.

While the cleanup is occurring you’ll see a specific message on the launcher informing you the process is currently taking place. If you encounter any issues with the new process please be sure to visit our support site at http://www.battle.net/support/

Blizzard are creating a new set of  player tags following the whole RealID debacle, but this time called Battle-tags. So what does it do other than confuse players even more by giving them more choices?

Battle.Net users will pick a name of their choosing which will be appended by a special 4-digit BattleTag code which creates a unique identifier. Thguis means players can have the same name but the four digits will make their name unique. The system will be rolled out and tested on the Diablo 3 beta and you can now assign your tag by logging into Battle.Net.

Blizzard has now named their cash system for Battle.Net “Battle.Net Balance”. The system will enable players to use the cash earned from the Diablo III real money auction house to purchase Blizzard products. Users accounts can also be “charged-up” with cash via numerous payment methids to purchase Blizzard products tied to Battle.Net such as WoW character transfers, pets and mounts.

As we have reported before, the drawback with the system is that once the cash is in your Battle.Net Balance, there is no way to cash it out. Diablo III players looking to make money will need to be careful not to transfer their earnings into the Battle.net Balance.

Blizard has also launched an FAQ if you find any of this confusiung.
